The first meeting of Baltic TRAM High Level Group took place on 27 October 2016 in Hamburg, Germany. This fora, chaired by the CBSS Secretariat´s Deputy Director General Bernd Hemingway, was formed right after the first CBSS Science Ministerial. It assembles the national managing authorities of research, science and innovation policies, as well as distinguished experts of analytical facilities. The Baltic TRAM High Level Group provides strategic guidance to the project by engaging in the drafting of the CBSS-led report on innovation and smart specialisation governance in the Baltic Sea Region.

Prior to discussing the details of the report and other project deliverables, the attendants of the first Baltic TRAM High Level Group meeting discussed the main outcomes of the Baltic TRAM Opening Conference which took place on 26 October 2016 in Hamburg, Germany.

The CBSS Secretariat´s Deputy Director General Bernd Hemingway introduced the Baltic TRAM High Level Group to the outcomes of the first CBSS Science Ministerial and the 25th Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference, as well as the upcoming discussions on the science and research cooperation in a regional setting during the meeting of Four Regional Councils of the North to be held on 28 November 2016 at the CBSS Secretariat in Stockholm, Sweden. The outcomes of the discussions on Baltic TRAM during the session “Achieving knowledge-driven innovation and growth in the Baltic Sea Region” of the 7th Strategy Forum of the EUSBSR on 9 November 2016 will serve as a valuable input for broader discussions on science and innovation cooperation in regional settings.
